Niagara Falls

We decided to break the drive from Detroit to Boston into two legs.  We could have done it one long day of driving, but we wanted to stop and see Niagara Falls.

We were told to go to the Canadian side of the falls because you could see more.  So we did just that.  To sum up, it was pretty much what I expected it to be.

Caleb had asked me if there was anything that I would like to do while we were there.  I was really interested in was going out on the Maid of the Mist.

We looked up the schedule and found out that it was the last day of the season for the boats and the last one left at 5:45.  It was going to be close, but we were hopeful that we’d make it in time.

We spent all morning and afternoon driving and finally got there.  The place just screams tourist trap!  Flashing neon and bright lights are everywhere.

When we got there we only had 10 minutes to get to the boat.  We figured we’d park and then run down to the dock.  Unfortunately, that was a no go.  When we got there the parking attendant said that we had missed the last one.

However, as we walked around and saw the last boat leave for the season I was a little bit thankful we weren’t on it.  It was almost six in the evening, the air was chilly and the spray from the falls was freezing.  I couldn’t imagine being soaked through to the bone on the boat.

We spent time taking pictures and walking around and then got back on the road.  Next up, Boston!
